Yeshiva Torah Institute - Palmer Lake, Colorado

“The things you heard from me...

These things commit to faithful people...
Who will be competent to teach others also...”

                                                           Shaul

The purpose of the Yeshiva Torah Institute is to equip spiritual leaders for the propagation of Tanakhee (Biblical) Judaism with a curriculum for broadminded, knowledgeable and critical-thinking scholars leading to Licentiate in Jewish Studies for congregational leaders or rabbinical (semicha) ordination. Provided a candidate for ordination has sufficient academic background and demonstrated abilities in service to a congregation the award may include a Doctorate in Hebrew Letters DHL:(Honors).

The Institute combines the rabbinical mentoring (Rabbi -Talmidiam) approach and the interdisciplinary adult education process used by the English Oxbridge system.

Classical approaches to subjects are complemented with academic and innovative methodologies. The instructional methods include concentrated classroom instruction, Internet interface, and a guided practicum for Licentiates and a mentored internship for candidates for ordination. These components combine to create a program of study with class-based credit that teaches students both theoretical knowledge and the skills to transform theory into practice.

The Supremacy of the Torah

The Yeshiva Torah Institute regards Scripture as the highest authority in all matters of faith, conscience, doctrine, and teaching. All human writings, teachings, and viewpoints must be weighed and tested against the divine revelation of Scripture. As a matter of practice, many courses have notes, books, and other materials, but it is the duty of the instructors to select materials that reflect Scripture accurately, and it is the duty of both instructors and students to consider materials carefully and challenge those which seem to contradict or go beyond Scripture. Students have a duty to receive the message eagerly and also to "examine the Scriptures ever day" to see if the content of the teachings is true. (Acts 17:11) Sloth and inattention to Scripture leads to human discipleship; whereas, proper diligence with respect to Scripture maintains the divine character of discipleship and divine fellowship which Yahweh desires. Man's teachings inform the mind; God's word has the power to form and transform the heart, soul, and mind.

No human, historical, or traditional interpretation of Scripture should give the same level confidence as direct assertions of Scripture or the level of confidence in interpretations of Scripture provided by Scripture itself. The most powerful and correct method of interpreting Scripture is prayerfully and diligently comparing Scripture with Scripture without regard for traditional views of specific individuals or groups. Since Scripture itself says that every matter should be established by the testimony of two of three witnesses (Deuteronomy 17:6, Deuteronomy 19:5, Matthew 18:16, John 8:17-18), questions of faith, teaching, and doctrine should be directly supported with the testimony of multiple Scriptures, and the tenuous nature of beliefs based on a single Scripture without a second witness should be acknowledged.

Is Yeshiva Torah Institute a Messianic Yeshiva?

Yeshiva Torah Institute is not a Messianic Yeshiva. We practice Tanakee Judaism, which in our view is the religion given by YHWH on Mount Sinai to Moshe, who then taught it to the people of Israel. Joshua continued to teach the Torah that Moshe received from HaShem (The Name). Many years later, this same pure form of Judaism was retaught to the people by the Messiah during His time in Israel.

The ultimate goal of the Institute is to put forth competent leaders and rabbis well versed in the Jewish Torah and capable of making wise judgments. The core curriculum is focused on conceptual issues integrating methodologies that address historical concerns such as strata, composition and textual variants. The curriculum is designed to create knowledgeable, empathic leaders, who are skilled in the science and art of decision-making and who use mature judgment in rendering decisions. All classes include the study of primary material and developmental readings in relevant sources to produce additive and variant material. Adequate completion of each course/subject requires an essay or a position paper.
